A poet who knows it

In order to broaden my horizons I often dip into the new uploads on Spotify, or the home page, and deliberately choose to listen to an act I have never even heard of before.   Sometimes it results in a pleasant surprise like Assemblage 23 or Kill Hannah.  Ans sometimes it results in Daughtry…I don’t like to criticise musicians too much because I know that even the easy targets have more talent than I do, and if by chance an artist as cloth-eared as me does make an appalling record then at least they somehow managed to get their act together to write it, record it and get it released.  Hoaving said that…  I was pushed over the edge when a song started like this:

Lost from the start
I might as well be on the moon
Much colder than I thought
Even in the month of June

Really.  Rhyming ‘moon’ and ‘june’!    A lot of their music reminds me of Nickelback – competent but unrewarding, with songs that start with a good riff  and then blow it.

If we’re going to go for cringeworthy lyrics, look no further than Champagne Supernova:

    Slowly walking down the hall
    Faster than a cannonball

Is Liam walking slowly or quickly? Discuss. [25 marks]

He is walking slowly on a fast-moving travelator.

It’s the only explanation that fits.
