I got round to listening to some more Blue Oyster Cult the other day, playing a few tracks from each of their first few albums.  I really liked quite a lot of them, but… I can’t remember anything about them, what they were called or how they went. I just enjoyed them at the time. Nothing as memorable as their big hit single, so I can see how it overshadowed the rest of their work, but I shall probably put their stuff on a bit more in the future.
Meanwhile, I have been dipping into this week’s update from Spotify, playing tracks from Assemblage 23, Kid British and Anarchy Rice.  I also found a new Khaled album I hadn’t heard, and dipped into Transglobal Underground after seeing them play on Sunday.
Kid British I have read about. There is a bit of hype about them, but the few tracks I played sounded pretty good. I suspect they will do well for a short time.   I had never heard of Assemblage 23 before, but really liked their (his?) stuff, and I expect to be dipping into the five available albums quite a bit. it is sort of electronic/industrial, but at the more accessible end of industrial.
The latest Khaled album, Liberté. It is a bit more traditional and less funky than Sahra, but to my uneducated ears a bit less traditional than Ya-Rayi.  I do know that I like it, whether I understand it or not.
Looking through the list of new uploads I was a bit shocked to see Pink Floyd’s Division Bell on there, and then not surprised to find it not available in the UK. However, I think it is encouraging to see it uploaded. Maybe that means it is available somewhere, and maybe that means Spotify are working towards some deals with them.
