Wow. Just like Torchwood

September 1st, 2009 · Posted by Skuds in Technology · No Comments · Technology

One of the bits of Torchwood that I found less credible (and there was a lot to choose from) was those contact lenses – the ones that work as a camera, transmitting pictures back to base and letting base send text messages back to the wearer.   No part of it seemed feasible, but now it looks like somebody is actually working on it, or something very similar! The whole concept of augmented reality is enjoying something of a vogue at the moment, nearly always in connection with flashy iPhone apps, but this is taking it another step further.  They don’t suggest that such devices are just around the corner.  No mention of the lenses working as cameras and expecting anything that size to be able to transmit any sort of distance is surely too much, but even so… Wow.

Unfortunately I will never overcome my squemishness about eyeballs so it is nothing I could ever take advantage of, but I can’t stop being impressed with the idea of it.
