I caught something on the news this morning about the National TV Awards which really summed up for me the atrocious state of British TV at the moment: X Factor won the award for best most popular TV talent show, which implies there are now so many of the damn things it is worth having an award for them. It was as depressing as finding out that some bookshops now actually have sections labelled ‘tragic life stories’.Ant & Dec won the most popular presenter award for the ninth year running. I think the organisers missed an opportunity there. There is no plural in the award so they should have picked one of them to gove the award to and tried to drive a wedge between the co-joined geordies.
