Tell me something I don’t know

Yesterday was Vine day.  I like Vine days.

For the benefit of anybody who has not been paying attention, Vine is a scheme that Amazon run whereby they send free stuff to people and those people then write reviews of the products they receive.  If you don’t write reviews you stop getting the chance to have free stuff.I think it is a great scheme.  Over the last couple of years I have had one or two things through Vine that I would have bought anyway, but mostly I have received things I would not have bought, so it has broadened my tastes quite a bit, and introduced me to a few authors I will now be keeping an eye out for.

Sometimes there are decent electronic gadgets on offer.  Not every month, but itgenerates a bit of excitement, wondering if there will be some little electronic luxury on there to tempt me.

In the past I have had a 320GB USB hard drive, a Phillips picture frame and some Sennheiser headphones – all very good and I still use them all.  Other members have apparently had laptops,  network storage devices or video cameras – but I am more than happy with what I have had.

This month was one where I did have an electronic gadget on the list, but I passed on it and settled for a couple of books instead.  Sounds unlikely?  Well the gadget was one of these.

I’m sure it is a very good device, but I wonder how well I would be able to evaluate it and write a review if I was afraid to get on the thing.  I don’t think it would tell me anything a) I didn’t already know  and b) I would want to hear.
