Outbreaks of perversity

July 22nd, 2010 · 1 Comment · Life

A couple of news stories today that caught my eye.  First of all from the Telegraph: Transvestite had sex with a dog at English Heritage castle and then closer to home there is the Lewes knob-poster.  Just a couple of comments and observations to make.

There was another leaflet that caught my eye at the Hawth tonight, this one produced by Crawley borough council and advertising the Crawley Diego Garcian Society Fair at the K2 leisure centre on Sunday.

Crawley leadership hustings and vote

July 20th, 2010 · 13 Comments · Music, Politics

Another week, another Labour leadership meeting.  This time round was different for two reasons: as it was my own local party I could actually vote this time, and there was a hustings first.  Oh.  And there is a prog rock angle too.

Here comes the sun

July 19th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Politics

Jayne and I went down to Dorset for the day today to see the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival.  I checked the weather forecast on the BBC yesterday and it gave variations of ‘white cloud’, ‘grey cloud’ and ‘black cloud’ throughout the day, with maximum temperatures of about 18C. What we actually got was bright sunshine, mostly […]

Devil in Disguise

July 15th, 2010 · Comments Off on Devil in Disguise · Life

Apart from the story, there was a more personal level of enjoyment which was an element of nostalgia.   Molly ans Simon, the two main characters, met while at Goldsmiths […]

First off is The Invisible Gorilla by Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons, one of those popular […]

Wabi, Horsham

July 10th, 2010 · Comments Off on Wabi, Horsham · Life

Saturday’s Guardian has a review of the new Wabi restaurant in Horsham’s East Street.  I don’t think they liked it.  When the phrase “it reeks of death” appears in the opening paragraph you sense that the rest of the review will not go well.

Google wire-taps

July 10th, 2010 · Comments Off on Google wire-taps · Technology

The Google street view cars have been causing a bit of a fuss as it turns out they were collecting information on wireless networks as they went along.  In this BBC News story it was hyperbolically described as ‘one of the biggest wire tapping scandals in US history’.   I’m guessing that Google were possibly collecting […]

Joining the dots

July 8th, 2010 · Comments Off on Joining the dots · Politics

A quick plug for the ever readable Hopi Sen who has been joining a few dots… If you read that, do remember to try and look surprised when Tesco finally get to expand their Crawley shop onto the Hazelwick playing fields the next time they try. At least you have to applaud the coalition for […]
