Sometimes it is nice when books come to life. Not if the book is by James Herbert though, and especially not if it is his first book, The Rats, which is the first thing I thought of when I read about the Bradford giant rodents.
Incidentally, I love the fact that the Wikipedia page for the James Herbert Rats novel contains a warning that the page contains weasel words.

There is always going to be some idiot who takes it all seriously. No names - you know who you are. Not that anyone reads all this stuff at the bottom anyway, not when there is more exciting stuff to do like watching paint dry...
