There are some remarkable photos by somebody called Vivian Maier over at this site.
It appears that she took photographs, thousands and thousands of them, around Chicago from the 1950s onwards, possibly for her own amusement. Many were not even developed before she died. Somebody bought a job lot of her photos and films at an auction and has been developing them and putting them on the internet.
It is all very poignant. She did this as a hobby while holding down a job and presumably very few people even saw the results. You have to wonder if some small piece of chance early on could have led to her becoming as well known as, say, Cartier-Bresson.
