Crawley Campaign Against Racism

Last night I went to the CCAR annual international social evening. Jayne was working so I had to go on my own; not a problem as I probably knew 100 of the people there. It was a bit of a special event, celebrating the 35th anniversary of the organisation, and my first real chance to have a play with my new prime lens. It was also a chance to see the new Bewbush Centre, which is a brilliant space for holding events.

As a result of having a new toy to play with I probably took a lot more portrait-type photos that I should have done. Here are a few of the pics.

Some of the food

Polish dancing

Manny, stalwart of the CCAR committee and work colleague

Jim - another work colleague, and one of my favourite photos

Jayne - she came along when her shift finished to take me home

Enjoyed pictures. What camera and lens did you use?

Canon 1000D (now superseded by the 1100D) and most of the time I was using the 50mm f1.8 lens – the wide aperture means you can get away with not using a flash and you get a lot of artistic out-of-focus backgrounds on portraits.
