A slight mistake from Sky

July 17th, 2012 · Posted by Skuds in Life/Politics · 2 Comments · Life, Politics

I saw something hilarious on Sky News earlier. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be on YouTube yet. I’m sure it will be soon thoough. I’m equally sure that Sky News won’t be repeating it like they do with all their other interviews. Not in its entirety anyway.

They were after some opinions on the G4S debacle and introduced a Labour MP from the home affairs select committee. Kay Burley asked her the usual questions and finished with asking who should ‘fall on their sword’ as a result of it all, obviously hoping for some juicy criticism of the dreadful Theresa May. The MP declined to name any names and then said that, by the way, she is a Tory and not a Labour MP.

Oops.

Kay Burley then recovered by asking where her constituency was. “Oxford West & Abingdon” said Nicola Blackwood (for it was she). My mind may be playing tricks here, but I think Kay Burley then gave what Radio 1 Djs would call a ‘shout out’ to everyone in Oxford West and Abingdon and made a bemused expression direct to camera.

A beautiful moment.

Praise where it is due, Nicola Blackwood may be a Tory and she may only be a mere shadow of her predecessor, but she handled it well and showed a wonderful sense of timing by not revealing that she was a Tory until right at the end.

Kay Burley is overated. Nuff said.

Can’t disagree there. Same for her colleagues Adam Boulton and Jeff Randall, though I quite like Dermot Murnaghan.

Of course I only watch Sky news for the weather reports from Nazaneen ;)
