…in October.

Jayne and I are off to Egypt tomorrow for our first holiday in two years and are obviously very excited about it. The only fly in the ointment is worrying about how the dogs will react to us not being around for so long. Frankie is house-, dog, and cat-sitting and Charlie will pop round too, so they will be OK but I think they have got used to us.

As it is a holiday I shall be leaving my phones and tablet behind so it is two weeks without blogs, Facebook, Twitter and RSS feeds. Even if I take them for emergencies they will stay turned off unless an emergency actually happens, so I shan’t be subjecting the world to instant illustrated reports on each meal and cocktail we enjoy.

Not that I am apologising in advance. One thing that really winds me up is when somebody has a gap in updating their blog and returns with an apology to their readers – as if anybody really gave a monkey’s. I realise that nobody notices or cares if I don’t write anything for a while and its a bit self-regarding to think otherwise.

Anyway, I shan’t be totally gadgetless. I have put a load of old Bugle podcasts onto an SD card so I can listen to them on the mp3 player and I have downloaded a pile of e-books to read, and while I might not bother with the phone I will certainly take a camera with me.

Perhaps I ought to actually apologise in advance for the avalanche of holiday snaps I will be inflicting on Flickr and Facebook in October?
