Working Out

February 8th, 2019 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Today I did something I have never done before. I joined a gym!

At the moment this is just so I can get fit for my operation, without the balls-ache of going to Guildford twice a week for physiotherapy sessions. I am supposed to be doing something called ‘pre-habilitation’ which is some new idea about how to prepare for serious surgery, but really don’t like the idea of so much travel, not to mention all the hassle and expense of parking at Guildford hospital. The gym I have joined is quite expensive compared to a lot of other in town, but it is close enough that I can walk there, and it still works out cheaper than going to the hospital all the time.

All this is good and positive, but after I signed up and got home I realised how woefully unprepared I am. I have nothing to wear for a start. I’m going to have to go out and get some shorts and tops tomorrow. Also a padlock for the lockers. And of course, there is the small matter of some playlists for working out.

I think the latter is going to keep me busy. Initially I will not be working out very hard so no hi-NRG stuff. After recovering from the op I might want to continue and do more , but for now it is just basic regaining of strength after losing so much weight in such a short time, not all of which was fat.

Not sure what to go for. My first inclination is rave and big beat. A nice playlist of Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Propellorheads and Bentley Rhythm Ace perhaps? Or maybe an Essex playlist of Dr. Feelgood, Eddie & the Hot Rods and Depeche Mode would do the trick? Or would podcasts be the way to go?

Time will tell, but I think I need to sort out the clothing first.
