Up On The Hill

October 9th, 2008 · Comments Off on Up On The Hill · Life

It really has all been going on up here on Tolgate Hill.  First of all that big fire on Sunday, and then yesterday there was an obstruction in the road as I came home from work.  Right opposite where the fire was there was a tow truck blocking half of the road.  It was reversed […]

Driven round the bend

June 19th, 2008 · 4 Comments · Life, Technology, Work

We had our team meeting today, followed by the mystery activity that had been billed as ‘go-karting with a difference’.   The boss didn’t tell us what we were doing until the last minute, when he gave us a map to Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, and told us that we were going to be shown […]

Broom, broom

June 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Work

There is a bit of speculation about what we are going to be up to next week. The IT department is having its regular team meeting, followed by some sort of non-work team-building activity, but the boss is being a bit coy about the details. He has been threatening us with a team event for […]

Moving in mysterious ways

November 10th, 2007 · 4 Comments · Life

On the way up to Herts today we were overtaken on the M25 by God, who obviously fancies himself as part of Torchwood. I was disappointed that I didn’t get the camera out of the glovie in time when a car with the number plate “BOB” (or 8 O) went passed, but this compensated for […]

Shortcut

October 29th, 2007 · Comments Off on Shortcut · Life

A third journey to Letchworth in a week, and we have found the secret – leave at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately it only works one-way unless you are going to wait seven days before coming back. We spent the day trying to tidy dad’s house up. I made three runs to the tip […]

On the road again

August 18th, 2007 · Comments Off on On the road again · Life, Work

I have been doing a lot of driving in the last couple of weeks, at least by my standards. Under normal circumstances I can often go a week without getting behind the wheel, but with trips to visit the old man in Herts and visits to Raynes Park and Basingstoke for work, and a family […]
