A job I couldn’t do

January 21st, 2009 · Comments Off on A job I couldn’t do · Life, Music

In the Crawley Observer today there was a sort of advert for a sort of job.   Not really a job, because no payment is mentioned, more of a task.  All I know is that I certainly couldn’t do it – reviewing local concerts for their online reviews section.

A night with Eric

January 20th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Music

I received an e-mail today. I am not sure whether it is a scam or just spam, but it all seems too horribly plausible and I suspect that it may be for real.  It is an invitation to buy tickets for a VIP Eric Clapton package.

Sidi ‘h’ Bibi

December 18th, 2008 · Comments Off on Sidi ‘h’ Bibi · Music

A short clip of Manu Chao doing the song Sidi ‘h’ Bibi in London last night. You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video Actually, that is not quite right.  It is not Manu Chao singing but the percussionist coming to the front for this song.  He used to play in […]

Bienvenida a Tijuana

December 17th, 2008 · Comments Off on Bienvenida a Tijuana · Music

Jayne and I went up to London this evening to see Manu Chao at the Forum.   This was the third time I have seen him play live and the best yet.  The first time it was a nine-piece outfit, the second time it dropped down to six people, having ditched the trumpet, accordian and second […]

Young Turks

December 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments · Music

La Vida Tombola

November 27th, 2008 · Comments Off on La Vida Tombola · Music

Apparently half the population thinks that children in the UK behave like animals.  To give a bit of balance, here are three groups of youngsters who show that the ‘feral’ stereotype is not applicable:

That’s Entertainment

November 7th, 2008 · 16 Comments · Music

Tonight Chrystal took me to see Paul Weller start his tour at K2 leisure centre in Crawley.  Her treat.  She did very well a few months ago and won a pair of tickets from Radio Mercury.  I don’t think she enjoyed it too much, but it was certainly an experience for her and I am […]

No Sleep Till Brooklyn

October 23rd, 2008 · Comments Off on No Sleep Till Brooklyn · Music

I am going to have to go to bed, but I really don’t want to.  I have the TV tuned into this Africa Express concert in Camden and so far it is brilliant.  I would love to carry on watching it but I do have to go to work in the morning and the show […]

Thank You For The Music

October 4th, 2008 · Comments Off on Thank You For The Music · Music

Thanks Mum!  You didn’t know it, but you gave me the new David Gilmour Live in Gdansk CD/DVD set for my birthday.  I went into HMV straight after banking the cheque.  While I was there I also treated myself to Death Magnetic.
