I joined the modern world today when my ID card photo driving licence arrived in the post. Since the new photo licences were introduced I have not changed name, changed address, had any endorsements added or removed, ((not that I have ever had any sort of endorsement to be removed)) or had any categories added […]

The price of petrol
May 22nd, 2008 · 6 Comments · Life, Politics
I can understand the concern about the price of petrol, I can even understand why there is practically hysteria about it. What I can’t understand is why there is not similar outrage about the price of public transport and why there has not been general mass protests about that as well, or even instead.
There and back

I visited our Leicester site today, driving all the way there and back in one day just for a few meetings. Not great for the carbon footprint I know, but I have been in the job for a year and so far I have managed to do everything by videoconference and it was about time […]

Stalled
April 11th, 2008 · Comments Off on Stalled · Life
This afternoon we were coming out of the multi-storey car park and there was a bit of a queue. It turned out to be that somebody had stalled their car. I’m sure we have all managed to stall a car on a steep ramp ((even if we won’t admit it)) but not when going downhill. […]
On the road again

On Monday night at 10:30pm one the town’s few speed cameras was set on fire and destroyed. It is at a location where plenty of children cross to get to school. Nine-and-a-quarter hours later, on Tuesday morning, a 14-year-old girl was run over crossing the road on the way to school. The two events are […]
A rose by any name…

I do hope that this directive to judges will not be portrayed as motorist-bashing by the sort of twat who goes around vandalising speed cameras. It will do for now, but I think the whole classification needs to be re-thought. At the moment there are offences of ‘careless driving’ and ‘dangerous driving’. Given that even […]
Look on the bright side

I tried to cheer myself up by thinking of the positive results of England losing to Portugal, but all I could come up with was: Jayne has now removed all the England crap from the car. Thats a big plus. The flags were naff but harmless but the England sunshields in the rear passenger windows […]
