Last wednesday Chrystal passed her driving test. By Friday she had found a little cheap runabout that she liked the look of so we went off to look at it.  During the drive there Jayne was driving and I was riding shotgun. Chrystal was in the back where we couldn’t see her. I happened to [...]

Death of Autotune
October 17th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Life, Music, Technology
On his latest album, The Blueprint 3, Jay-Z has a track called Death of Autotune. Would that was true. I have been at a party, in fact I should still be there but I have slipped off home for an hour or two. The DJ has been playing a lot of modern music, which is [...]
Further on down the road

What a day! Chrystal passed her driving test, at the first attempt. Well… first attempt at the practical anyway: the theory took two bites. The first one was close though – I encouraged the girl by telling her that the result was not a fail but that she nearly-passed.

It has been a big weekend, with two late nights. On Saturday Jayne and I went to the middle of nowhere for a family wedding and then tonight I took Frankie up to London for some live comedy.

100 not out!

Arrived home from Essex after 1pm, and want to be in work by 7:30 in the morning, so not really any time to write about Auntie Ivy’s 100th birthday party tonight, nor to go through the 111 photos taken. Just this one photo for now, best wishes to Ivy and a curse on the M25 [...]
Sisters make people happy
April 6th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Life
I should probably mention this before my eponymous sister does – one of the news stories that did catch my eye while I was offline. Apparently, and I’m sure Mother would have no arguments with this, “Sisters spread happiness while brothers breed distress” according to ‘experts’.

There is more to being a teacher than just teaching
February 7th, 2009 · No Comments · Life
Last month there was a brilliant example of the ways a teacher can improve the lives or happiness of pupils without having to teach anything. The whole pastoral care thing is difficult to pin down and define and impossible to measure and put into league tables, but can make a lot of difference, which we [...]
