I have been listening to my iRiver on the way to work. Its good to start getting some use out of it again and, although its a bit quirky and idiosyncratic, I still really like it. I can’t remember if it is now four-and-a-half or five-and-a-half years since I got it but it is still [...]

Driven round the bend

We had our team meeting today, followed by the mystery activity that had been billed as ‘go-karting with a difference’. The boss didn’t tell us what we were doing until the last minute, when he gave us a map to Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, and told us that we were going to be shown [...]

Talking about mobile phones, as I was a moment ago, I had one of my trademark bizarre ideas this evening. At a meeting of the Horsham Labour Party there was a lot of discussion about policies, which is always a good thing. It was prompted by some draft manifesto-type documents that we were invited to [...]

There are some techie things I love because they just do their job so well, and some I just like for the sake of the technology itself, but I have one glaring and increasingly embarrassing blind spot with gadgets: the mobile phone. And last week I found out just how big that blind spot is.

I do not normally bother to read computer magazines. Take away all the adverts and the reviews of things I am not interested in and not a lot remains. But I used to read them in the 80s and this week I bought the Personal Computer World 30-year anniversary edition for a bit of [...]

I was very surprised today when I got to work and realised I had left my mobile phone at home and then found myself feeling that something was missing all day. The truth is that I use it like a sort of pocket watch more than I ever use it as a phone, which is [...]

I finally had a go on Charlie’s stilts today. I have to say that, despite it looking very difficult to walk on them, it is actually harder than it looks.

I took a pool car from work to visit another site the other day. Being a pool car it was quite new and of a decent spec, and being a Renault it was full of gadgets

My DVD player is playing up a little bit. Sometimes it says “no disc” when there is one. No problem: eject and re-insert and it works fine. Probably just needs the DVD equivalent of a head cleaner, but it got me thinking.

Its safe to say that Chas was surprised by his Christmas present. He had not been asking for stunt stilts, but Jayne had a hunch he would be chuffed, and fortunately he was.
Even the fact that it was drizzly and nasty on the 25th didn’t stop him going out, although he didn’t get too far [...]
