Here comes the sun

July 19th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Politics

Jayne and I went down to Dorset for the day today to see the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival.  I checked the weather forecast on the BBC yesterday and it gave variations of ‘white cloud’, ‘grey cloud’ and ‘black cloud’ throughout the day, with maximum temperatures of about 18C. What we actually got was bright sunshine, mostly […]

Bristol fashion

June 8th, 2010 · Comments Off on Bristol fashion · Life

Jayne and I were very impressed by Bristol at the weekend.  Although I had been there before it was a very long time ago and all I can really remember about it from then is the CLifton suspension bridge. I knew it was the home of Banksy, Concorde, Johnny Morris and Wallace and Grommit as […]

Unsolicited testimonial

June 7th, 2010 · Comments Off on Unsolicited testimonial · Life

Jayne and I enjoyed a short break in Bristol.  More of that later, but for now I want to praise the hotel we stayed in – The Bristol Hotel. It is not cheap, in absolute terms, but for a two-night stay we were happy to fork out for a bit of comfort.   Having said that, […]

Pink Panthers

May 21st, 2010 · 2 Comments · Life

Hustings #2

April 30th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Politics

In the Horsham part of this general election hustings are like buses: you wait ages and ages and then three turn up at once. Yesterday we had the event in Crawley Down and at lunchtime today it was Collyer’s school in Horsham, where the audience was not only younger but also considerably larger.

Hustings #1

April 30th, 2010 · Comments Off on Hustings #1 · Politics

Yesterday we had the first hustings of the election which, at just seven days before election day, is maybe a bit later than normal to be starting this sort of thing. Not only was it the first one of this election in Horsham but the first one I have ever done myself.

Francis Maude caption competition

April 30th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Politics

Let take five minutes out of electioneering for a little bit of light-hearted fun: Any suggestions for a caption?  Try and keep to suggestions that won’t get me into trouble.

Only two weeks to go

April 23rd, 2010 · 2 Comments · Politics

Yes it is only two weeks until the big wobbly sausage! If that makes it sound like I am losing my marbles a bit, I refer you to this story in the Telegraph, specifically the end bit.
