Yesterday I was listening to In Their Darkened Shrines by Nile and trying to work out a few things, like why I have it in my collection and why I haven’t listened to it in the 6 years since I bought it. The second question is quite easy – I don’t like it very much.

The Only Way Is Up

I was listening to the radio just now and the DJ was talking about his football team which, unfortunately for him, was Spurs. Trying to keep a positive attitude he said that being at the bottom of the league means that now the only way is up. Not strictly true though is it? I think […]
I knew it had ‘World’ in it somewhere

Quite a while ago I heard a track on the radio that immediately rang a bell with me: “Ah. The theme music from World in Action” I thought. I decided I would procure the track so I immediately looked up World in Action on Wikipedia. Sure enough, there was a section on the title sequence […]

Eagle-eyed regular readers will notice a few little changes here in the last day or so. Some of these are because of the WordPress upgrade and me not getting certain plugins or widgets working with the new version yet, some are the result of tweaking, but the absence of the ‘Save Planet Rock’ logo is […]

For those about to rock…

I don’t have a DAB radio, although I played with one for a bit once. I can’t comment on the sound quality that a lot of listeners have criticised because I am a bit cloth-eared, but I liked the displays of information that were available.

Bloody Virgin

First of all there is the letter. My sister had a very unsatisfactory phone conversation with Virgin Media’s customer services when she was trying to get Dad’s telephone and cable TV cancelled after he died. In a fit of pique she wrote a 5-page explaining exactly what the circumstances were, why the customer couldn’t give […]

Thou Shalt Always Kill

I heard this track on the radio the other day, and it made me laugh. The DJ said it was available for download, so I had a bit of a search for it and it turns out that its only available on iTunes – so no use to me- but then I looked on YouTube […]
