Yes live at Montreux

January 16th, 2012 · Comments Off on Yes live at Montreux · Music

This afternoon I watched the Yes Live at Montreux DVD, to remind myself why I like them after watching the 9012Live DVD the other day. After watching the 1985 concert I was left wondering why I had been listening to the band for nearly 35 years and still lappingup new releases. Afterf watching the 2003 […]

9012Live

January 14th, 2012 · Comments Off on 9012Live · Music

This evening I decided, on a whim, to watch the DVD of 9012Live, the film of a yes concert in 1985, directed by Steven Soderbergh. I have had the DVD for quite a while but can’t remember watching it before, though I’m sure I must have done. It is possible I only watched a bit […]

In the present: live from Lyon

January 10th, 2012 · Comments Off on In the present: live from Lyon · Music

I’ve seen all good people

October 13th, 2010 · Comments Off on I’ve seen all good people · Life, Music

Substitute

September 11th, 2008 · 6 Comments · Music

Yes’s 40th anniversary tour that was cancelled when Jon Anderson was unwell is back on again – but with a new lead singer. In a case of life imitating art imitating life they have roped in the singer of Yes tribute band Close To The Edge to be Jon’s understudy for the tour.

Yet more Yes

March 28th, 2007 · 2 Comments · Music

Given that Yes was the first band I ever saw live, and that I have 16 CDs (4 of them doubles, several vinyl LPs not yet replaced by CD) and now 10 videos and DVDs it is a little surprising that I did not only not have their most famous/notorious LP (Tales from Topographic Oceans) […]

Yes, yes, yes

March 24th, 2007 · 5 Comments · Music

When I saw that there was yet another Yes live DVD being released I had a bit of a sinking feeling. I knew I would not be able to resist it despite already have 9 DVDs and videos of the band of varying quality.

Whacky merchandise

Confession time: I like the band Yes. But I don’t like them enough to want one of these.  I wonder if they sell many of them?
