Sometimes you get a perfect moment in life that just makes you laugh because it doesn’t seem real. It seems too good to be real. It feels like a little episode has been written by Spike Milligan or Quentin Tarantino or Alan Bennett or someone.
That happened twice today.
At lunchtime Neil was wondering whether his wife would like the present he had got her for their anniversary.
– What did you get her?
– I was on lastminute.com and saw an offer on adopting a chimp at Whipsnade zoo.. so I got it.
– On lastminute? Isn’t that for people snapping up late travel deals? Are there people who are in a rush for a chimp by the weekend?
– Well. Its our ivory anniversary and I wanted to adopt an elephant but that would have taken too long, but chimps were available. Its called Bobo.
Priceless. I paraphrased it. In reality it was much funnier.
The other episode was in the break room when we were talking about another colleague’s nickname, which is Jimlad.
– Why does Chris call himself Jimlad?
– Because his name is Hawkins and his dad’s got a wooden leg.
– Oh.
I suppose you had to be there.
