Christmas Shopping Hell

December 5th, 2004 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

This afternoon I ventured down to Crawley town centre to look for some presents for the wife. The place was heaving. In Argos all the machines for self-service were out of order and the queue for the tills snaked though the shop and reached all the way to the front door. Virgin and the Disney Store had similar queues.

I am not good with crowds like that. I enjoy being part of a large crowd at a concert, football match or protest march, but not in a shop. I start to feel claustrophobic and break out in a cold sweat. I didn’t quite come home empty-handed, but I didn’t get what I went out for. Perhaps I will try catching the shops on the way home during the week.

This year I think I must have bought 50% of my Christmas presents online. After today’s experience I think next year it will be a lot closer to 100%!
