My week or so away from WordPress has not been totally without incident. A few of the highlights for me are:
- Buying a new car
When the MOT and tax expired on the Renault at the same time as it was down to running on two-and-a-half cylinders I figured it was really time for a change! - Finally buying Relayer
Continuing my belated mission to catch up on old Yes albums I missed out on. Only a fiver from Amazon. A very jazzyfree-form album. - Sending the girl overseas
Chrystal went off for a week's exchange trip to Spain at the weekend. Its very quiet around here at the moment and Chas is enjoying being an only child for a while. - Becoming an election candidate
But not for where I expected to be a candidate. The official resignation of the invisible councillor in Furnace Green forced us to do a bit of a re-shuffle with our candidates. - Getting bolder with SQL
After importing all this crap from the old server I explored the possibilities of phpMyAdmin, deleting several tables and running a mass find/replace to change all the URLs for photos in posts. For some stupid reason I had them all as absolute addresses on the old domain instead of relative ones which would have required no alteration. I know better now. - Seeing West Ham win another game
Not that I actually saw them, obviously: just saw the results. Too late for us to avoid the drop I fear, but welcome nonetheless and about bloody time. - Sneezing and coughing
I have done a lot of that. This cold has been very persistant and is now in the third week of a prolonged run. Not much of a highlight, now I think about it. - Mowing the lawn
Even though it was still a bit soggy underfoot. Its amazing what a difference it can make. - Conquering the world
The old Rise of Nations game has been getting a fair old bashing lately.
