Back from Paris

Well, we are back from our flying visit to Paris. Many photos to download and label – mostly flowers. My best advice to anyone visiting Paris is don’t try to do Giverney and the Louvre on the same day! We couldn’t do anything on our last day apart from moan about how tired our legs were…

Went by Eurostar and found it to be, as always, an excellent service. Prompt, clean and always fully booked. The only niggle is that although the seats are good and wide there is not a lot of leg room (especially when you are 6′ 1″ and mostly made of legs – poor Rob). The best bit for us now is that we only have to stroll gently from King’s Cross to St Pancras – about time that a journey from the North had all the advantages.

Now all I have to do is all the actions I volunteered for at our last Friends of the Earth meeting (defeat Tesco and stop the people of Bradford dropping litter, not too much…), plant all the bedding we got yesterday and get my head round going back to work tomorrow. It’s only a cliche that you need a rest to get over a holiday because its true.

The North doesn’t have all the advantages. You only have to go down the escalators from Kings Cross to get a direct train back to Crawley – even faster.

Of course, you could always use Tex Pemberton’s preferred route and take a bus to Waterloo then a train to Clapham Junction and change to another train… barmy. No wonder they sacked him as cabinet member for transport.
