Got around to watching Dead Set over the weekend. Not sure I entirely agree with speeding zombies: I watched the interview where Charlie Brooker explained his decision to have them running but I am a bit of an old fuddy-duddy traditionalist and prefer to see zombies shuffling.
Still, it was all good fun and Davina McCall made a great zombie. A little bit surprised to see Eugene pop up in a cameo as himself, before getting eaten by Davina.  I was only thinking about him on Saturday, when I visited the new Maplin in Crawley on its opening day: just his sort of place.
I don’t see the point in zombie purism. The thing is that a zombie is not actually realistic anyway, so whether it’s a shambling groany grey-faced zombie, or a sore-covered screeching sprinter you are already having to suspend disbelief.
I watched Dead Set on the week it was first shown and I thought it was really well done. Of course, I’m a Brooker junkie.
