Psychoville

I missed the first episode of Psychoville, but after seeing a few favourable mentions of it I caught up with it on iPlayer (through the Virgin box and therefore on the big TV and not the PC screen) and immediately decided that it has to be the best thing on TV at the moment and set the V+ box up to record the whole series.A while ago I was wondering what happed to the League of Gentlemen, and this is the answer.  It only features two of them, but it is every bit as strange and dark as LoG at their best.  There is the  demented children’s entertainer with clown makeup that looks scarier than Heath Ledger’s Joker face and assortment of false hands,  a telekinetic dwarf with a murky past in the dwarf porn business,  a serial killer-obsessed simpleton who has an unhealthy relationship with his Bontempi organ-playing mother and the blind millionaire in his empty house, guarding the room that contains his ‘holy of holies’.

The programme is disturbing and hilarious at the same time.

I still can’t believe they crammed so much into one short episode.  The accompanying website is excellent too.  It has multiple layers of companion websites and will end up with a site for each main character.  I’m already looking forward to the next one.
