Blogging takes a back seat

April 19th, 2010 · Posted by Skuds in Life/Politics · 4 Comments · Life, Politics

What with one thing and another, over the last week or two I have been blogging less and less but tweeting more.  (How’s that for a line that would have made no sense at all just a few years ago?)  In some ways this is good, but in other ways I regret it.I regret it because I rather enjoy writing, just for the sake of writing.  I believe it is a good habit to have because it keeps my mind active, thinking of things to write about and keeping me occupied in a constructive way.

On the other hand, I am aware that I can go on a bit.  In the past I may have seen an amusing or interesting story online and written a wordy blogpost about it, when just giving the link with a pithy comment would have been enough.  With a lot of election-related stuff going on at the moment I don’t have time for long-winded links so if I see something interesting I will probably just put it on Twitter and/or Facebook.

When the election is all over and I find myself with a lot more spare time I am thinking it might be better to stick to that sort of thing and only write longer posts where the subject deserves it.   Won’t be long before the old habits resurface and I start wibbling again though, despite my good intentions.

Either way, I reckon there will still be lots of cat photos…

Loving the garden picture – he is trying to look so fierce! Was he trying to scare a butterfly?

Mum can’t keep up with you on Facebook or Twitter though. And a link and a pithy comment sometimes runs the risk of just sounding a bit smarmy. Which you aren’t, so maybe wordy is better….

Blog writing has far more substance than Twittering – and reaches a wider, less superficial, audience…

I don’t think you go on.

Twitter has done the same thing to me – I tend to drop stuff on there, and not create blog posts so much. Which is annoying, as I’ll realise it’s been days and days without a new post. Must figure out a better balance.

I’ll let you off for light duties over the next few weeks. I suppose you have a reasonable excuse.
