I watched Tuesday’s Later with Jools Holland this evening (still available on iPlayer). Good performances from LCD Soundsystem and Kelis. I thought Crowded House were a bit subdued, but I am still finding it hard to adjust to them without Paul Hester behind the drums. Also I was terminally distracted by Neil Finn’s ill-advised moustache which made him look a bit Bob Dylan.
At the end they reminded us of their biggest strength: their ability to just play. Unlike most bands, you could put them on the spot and ask them to play anything from their back catalogue without rehearsal and they would have a decent crack at it.
They also reminded us that, in Nick Seymour, they have one of the best bass guitarists known to mankind.
