Flu?
October 13th, 2005 · Comments Off on Flu? · Life
I think I may be on the verge of flu. Not bird flu, fortunately, but ‘bloke flu’ where you take your temperature twice an hour, feel sorry for yourself and expect everyone else to fuss over you.

Tony Blair in Crawley
October 13th, 2005 · Comments Off on Tony Blair in Crawley · Life
I got this letter the other day, inviting me to meet Tony Blair during his visit to Crawley to see our college. Normally I would not be able to make it because of work, but I just happened to be on a course which would finish early enough for me to make it, so I […]

I’m not sure what it means, but its a new facility Blogger have added so I have enabled it. It seems to be an attempt to do something like trackbacks. I suspect that it doesn’t detect when somebody else links here, but only lists where people use it to create a link – and that […]
County Local Committees
October 12th, 2005 · Comments Off on County Local Committees · Politics
Tuesday night saw the first meeting in Crawley of one of the county council’s local committees, otherwise known as CLCs, and it was held in Broadfield. The county council often seems distant to us both literally and metaphorically. With their meetings being held during the day and about as far away from Crawley as you […]

Headline of the week already?

Todays Guardian carries a story about GM mosquitos. The online version has the rather dull headline Scientists create GM mosquitoes to fight malaria and save thousands of lives I much prefer the headline in the paper version of the Guardian: Glowing mosquito testicles offer hope

Broadfield South / Tollgate Hill
October 10th, 2005 · Comments Off on Broadfield South / Tollgate Hill · Technology
If anyone from the Broadfield South/Tollgate Hill area is reading this, have a look at this new blog. I have set it up, but anyone who lives up here can run with it and contribute. Or should I say down here? Its hard to say: we are in the South, but on the other hand […]

John Peel Day 2005
October 9th, 2005 · Comments Off on John Peel Day 2005 · Music
Another shameless plug for John Peel day this week. Spizz Energi are playing at the Metro in Oxford Street. As part of the set they will be playing (I Am An) Island which I think they have never played live before. I don’t think it was ever released on record either, but is my favourite […]
