This might be old news – nearly two weeks old – but I only just heard about it… it looks like Genesis will be re-forming to tour next year. The band’s official website just says there will be an announcement on November 7th, but there are rumours.

Having discovered the other day that Lee Brilleaux, the very epitome of South Essex music, was actually born in South Africa, today I learned that Johnny Clegg, who is one of the leading lights of South African music was actually born in Rochdale. Its a funny old world.

Hush Puppies

I learned something utterly trivial but brilliant today. The Hush Puppies shoes were named after a type of fried cornballs, which got their name because farmers in the Southern US used to throw them at their dogs to stop them barking. At the time ‘barking dogs’ was a term for sore feet.
