I wonder how many Rover 25s got shredded before this notice went up? Poor people. Having to drive around in a Rover 25 in the first place is bad enough, but now they have to drive around in a dirty Rover 25 or get the bucket and sponge out.

Quote of the week – election special
May 10th, 2007 · 12 Comments · Politics
The local elections here in Crawley generated a few surprises, but little of the nail-biting excitement we are used to here. Anyone in need of entertainment at the count had to rely on a speech by Arshad Khan of the Justice party. Arshad is well-known within the town, and nothing he can says or does […]

Broadfield forum yet again
May 10th, 2007 · Comments Off on Broadfield forum yet again · Politics
For a bi-monthly meeting the Broadfield Forum seems to come along again very quickly. The attendance seems to be falling again, on both sides of the fence. There were only 9 regular members of the public there, Toby from the council’s community services department in the chair, a couple of coppers, a girl from the […]

Change of unions

I have only had my membership card for Amicus for a couple of weeks and it now looks like its out of date already as today I received an e-mail from something called Unity which is apparently what my union will be called now it has merged with the TGWU. I should have been paying […]

What was I thinking?

I still can’t believe that I was persuaded to swap at the last minute from standing in Maidenbower to standing in Furnace Green. I was always prepared to be a paper candidate, but can’t totally swallow my pride and must have thought that losing by 600 votes was preferable to losing by 1200, forgetting for […]

It was a tough decision, whether to throw money at Murdoch or Branson, but today we had Sky disconnected and Virgin Media’s digital TV installed. I will still have the dish and I am led to believe that my old box will still pick up a load of free to view channels, so I am […]

Bargain!

It only seems like yesterday that Charlie was a 7-year-old pyromaniac, but today I bought him his first suit for his graduation from school – and hopefully for interviews. He looks very grown up. It must be very strange for Jayne seeing him like that: I have only known him since he was 7, but […]
Skudmobile

As a result of putting photos of the historic commercial vehicles up on Flickr, somebody has drawn my attention to this photo. It is a De Perrycarve from 1915. Built by the Deptford Motor Co. with coachwork by Skudder & Co, Deptford – just down the road from where I lived for about 12 years. […]
Old Bangers

One of the many advantages of living in Crawley is that it is halfway between London and Brighton. The trip from London to Brighton is a popular one for motoring events, so it is not unusual to see, for example, whole fleets of minis or VW Combis going through town if the owners’ group is […]
Brown trousers time

West Ham finally clawed their way out of the relegation places today with a 3-1 win over Bolton and are now only behind Chelsea and Man Utd for current form with 6 wins from the last 8 games. I feel rotten about wishing for bad things to happen to Fulham and Charlton – both teams […]
