Doctor Feelgood

I can’t help thinking about that old joke (repeated by Trigger in Only Fools and Horses) about the old broom which has lasted many years, although it had the head replaced twice and the handle replaced once.

I saw an advert for Dr Feelgood, playing at the 100 Club as part of Club Bang Bang in today’s paper. Not a very effective advert as the concert was on December 2nd.

I have a couple of DVDs of Dr Feelgood playing live. One is from 1975, with the classic line-up playing the Kursaal in Southend. The other is from more recent years, with only Lee Brilleaux from the original band. It was not the same but Brilleaux was still worth watching.

He died a year or so after that concert. So who is in the band now? I’m sure the current Dr Feelgood is a competent, lively, probably even exciting band, but as far as I am concerned they are not Dr Feelgood. Lets face it, Lee Brilleaux was Dr Feelgood as much as Debbie Harry was Blondie.
