Apparently I am banned from a nightclub called Creation in Brighton, but its nothing personal: the other 99,999 residents of Crawley have also been banned, according to a story in The Argus.
The door staff at Creation say that banning everyone from Crawley has resulted in less crime and trouble there. This may or may not be true, and even if it is true it could be coincidence.
I had never heard of this place before, and so I have never had any intention of going there, but I’m not happy that I would not be allowed in purely because of my postcode.
Come to think of it, I never carry around any form of ID which says where I live and I am sure many people don’t. With a full head of grey hair I find I don’t have any trouble with bar staff thinking I am underaged. Do Brightonians now have to carry a utility bill or something so they can prove they are not from Crawley. (Those that don’t have a drivers license or, like me, have no idea where theirs is, not that mine has a photo anyway)?

And what if Crawley Councillor and prospective Brighton MP, Mike Weatherley, turned up at this nightclub door ?!
Skuds // Nov 21, 2006 at 12:53 am
I think he would be OK because he lives in Brighton. (or is that Hove actually?)

And there was I thinking our Mike was living in Crawley – silly me.

I don’t think he ever said he lived here – its not a requirement: you have to either live here, be employed here or own property here.
If I wanted to I could stand for election to Lambeth council because I work there.

Well, I was given to understand (from what I consider to be a very good authority) that Cllr Weatherley lived in Northgate.
Perhaps he just owns a property here…Ummmmmmm.

The address on his forms was in Northgate. Maybe its a weekend cottage/holiday home 🙂
You could tell for sure by looking up the members’ register of interests online, except you can’t do that for CBC like you can for WSCC.

My guess is that he was a “lodger” in Northgate for the duration of the last election. I might be wrong…
