Someone sent me a link to a website which tells you what the number one single was on the day you were born – or any other date you decide to put in I suppose.
Harmless fun, but I was a little disappointed by the result for me: She's Not You by Elvis Presley. It may very well be a good song but its not one I can place. I don't think I have heard it.
Had I been born a week later it would have been Telstar by The Tornados – the first record by a British group to reach number 1 in the US and which I used to quite like but today I learned that it was one of Thatcher's Desert Island Discs so it will now be forever tainted by association. Maybe I'm better off sticking with Elvis.

I can’t believe you’ve only just discovered what was #1 when you were born.
For me it was Everlasting Love, by Love Affair, which is a mediocre song but a splendid sentiment

Ack – True by Spandau Ballet. I just can’t forgive that song for “why do I find it hard to write the next line?”.
I’ll swap with Everlasting Love though – like that one 🙂

As I date from the tail end of the chicken-in-a basket/carafe-of-sweet-white-wine era, it’s only right that Demis Roussos’ The Roussos Phenomenon topped the hit parade!

How about The Righteous Brothers, You Lost That Loving Feeling. I feel like a winner….

Jane – Result! And you can always pretend it was one of the re-releases and not the first time round.
Andrew (w) – Damn. I keep forgetting just how young you are 🙂
Andrew (R) – A shame you can’t get your birthday changed by deed poll isn’t it?
Gert – Doesn’t ring a bell with me, which might not be a bad thing.

Diana Ross’s ‘I’m Still Waiting’.
Dedicated to Tevez and the other bloke in claret and blue.
