Just noticed that the work of art featured today on the Rijkswidget is A dog and a cat near a partially disembowelled deer by Jan Baptist Weenix. Nice.  Weenix obviously took the Ronseal approach to naming paintings. (Also this is a second test. If all goes well, this one will not be posted to Twitter)

I am playing around with some plugins.  What should happen when I publish this is that it will also get posted as a tweet. You can set it up to do this with all posts but while I am playing with it I have set it to only operate on posts within a specific new […]
A plinth among men!

A little while back I mentioned how Andrew from Wongablog was going to be appearing on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of Antony Gormley’s One & Other project. I was a bit jealous about that, especially as he got allocated a prime slot (4pm on a Sunday) but I’m now hoping that […]

I had never heard of Miles Fisher before today. He is best know (so far) as an actor, and is now making music too – just like Keanu Reeves, Bruce Willis, David Hasselhoff and Stephen Seagal, but IMO a bit more listenable. This video is from his EP (available to play and download free) and […]

Three hours trying to get Charlie’s PC to connect to the internet tonight, with no success. For some reason it just will not load the drivers for his wireless LAN after I uninstalled it.  I suspect something happened during a Windows update. Mind you, all those DIVX programmes, Limewire, dozens of toolbars and other rubbish […]

Oh ye of little faith

There is something wrong here. It says: CHURCHES in the Horsham district have suspended part of the Holy Communion ritual due to fears over spreading swine flu. Hmm.  Isn’t the whole point of religion that it is irrational, so that it is only possible to believe of you make huge leaps of faith?  Maybe the […]

The new phone has all sorts of features. Most of them are defined by initials, some of which I understand but many I don’t. It has wi-fi, GPS, 3G, DLNA, UMTS, HSUPA and HSDP for a start. For all I know it has LOL and NSFW too. One thing I do know is that the […]

I was listening to Planet Rock while shaving the bonce and showering tonight and it struck me how complicit they are in perpetuating the syndrome whereby most of us only know a single song by fairly prolific artists.  I have recently been using Spotify to explore the hinterland of such bands: listening to Blue Oyster […]

Personally I don’t (currently) have a problem with my broadband at home and I’m quite happy with it so I don’t have an axe to grind here… but… I did find this interview quite amusing. I don’t know what job Mr. Ahmad does for Virgin Media but I suspect and hope it is on the […]

New phone
July 27th, 2009 · Comments Off on New phone · Technology
I gave in today and got a new mobile phone.  I don’t really use the mobile much: I don’t make many calls and certainly don’t receive many, but it was getting a little frustrating that I was missing what calls and texts I was receiving because the old phone didn’t make a noise. To be […]
