Stephen Fry’s gadgets

August 30th, 2011 · Comments Off on Stephen Fry’s gadgets · Life

We watched that Stephen Fry programme on the TV last night – his 100 best gadgets. Entertaining but inconsistent sums it up I think. Some of the gadgets were extremely generic while others were very specific.  for example, the iPod counts, even though it is just one amongst many mp3 players – and not even […]

After my experience of having the BlackBerry die on me I implemented nearly all the advice about extending battery life and it has had a dramatic effect. Now the thing still has plenty of battery life left after a couple of days.

Too much information

August 13th, 2011 · Comments Off on Too much information · Technology

July 28th, 2011 · Comments Off on Like a kid in a sweetshop? · Life

Seeing as I am off work this wek, just using up some holiday, and live just round the corner from the County Oak retail park, I went for a stroll this afternoon to look round the big shops.  Actually, to be more accurate, I had to go to the pet shop to get yet another […]

About this new iPad thing

March 2nd, 2011 · Comments Off on About this new iPad thing · Technology

I see that Apple have announced the second version of their iPad today, to much fan-boy acclaim.  Looks very nice, in fact if the first one had been as good (and if they were all a lot cheaper) I would have been less dismissive of it. I still can’t get excited though.  I can’t remember […]

Virgin Tivo

February 19th, 2011 · 6 Comments · Technology

I found out about two new things from Virgin Media today.  The first was by accident: a lot of people at work are having trouble connecting their company laptops through our encrypted VPN if they have Virgin broadband and I was looking for possible reasons for this.  While doing this I noticed that their XL […]

New toy time

February 12th, 2011 · Comments Off on New toy time · Technology

My printer has been playing up a lot lately.  Lots of error messages about the ink system failing, and it would also lock up a lot when scanning. I did a bit of research on the net and found that it was most likely a hardware fault that could easily be fixed with a couple […]
