Interviews pt 2

Overslept. Rushed out without breakfast or even a drink. Caught a slightly later train and arrived at work starving. Decided to go out for a quick toasted bacon sandwich and found the local cafe closed for 2 weeks’ holiday. Bought a bun from the bakers and went back up to the office.

When the boss’ path eventually crossed mine he said “I know you have an interview today so I wasn’t expecting you in. I thought you would be at home preparing for it” Doh! A decent lay-in, followed by breakfast would have been the ideal preparation.

Anyway, I went to the office in Crawley for an interview. The IT man and HR lady both seemed like decent people, and the job does seem to be exactly what I want to do and within my capabilities. I just hope they thought the same thing. It was quite a straightforward interview with none of those weird trick questions which are so much in vogue these days (if you had a free choice, what animal would you be? How many bricks are in an average house? etc.)

Again I have cause to be relieved about losing that election in June, as I could highlight the benefits of spending 4 years on the council (leadership, communication, networking, etc.) without getting anyone worried that I would be distracted from my job by it all.

Bought a DVD today – Battle Royale. It was every bit as bloody as everyone says it is, but I was surprised to find it quite hilarious in parts too. Mind you, I have to confess that it lost me a bit right at the end.
