Unite against fascism

Tonight I went to a meeting of the Crawley Unite Against Fascism campaign. It was like being back in the 80s – 5 lefties in a church hall putting the world to rights. To be fair, there was a council-run meeting about multi-cultural issues on at the same time, so many of the people likely to be interested were unable to make it. I managed to avoid being roped in as treasurer, but might end up stuck with something at the next meeting. I did volunteer to set up a web site and email address though. I did that as soon as I got home, using some spare aliases from my broadband connection. Obviously there is no content yet. Its very difficult to maintain interest in this sort of organisation when the BNP are so unsuccessful in Crawley, but its the existance of this organisation, and others with sympathetic aims which keeps the BNP unsuccessful here.

On the way home, I stopped at the community centre to check the computer. Apparently it was not connecting to the internet today, but it all worked fine when I tried it. I think its a dodgy connection on the phone cable, which has a damaged plug on it. I have loads of them spare now I don’t use modems. I will have to try and find one, but I bet I put them all up in the loft.
