What a week!

What a week! I think I have been permanantly shagged-out for the whole week! Fortunately it was a short one. Most of the time I could hardly keep my eyes open at work. It did not help that I have been doing something quite boring and repetitive.

Still, it does partly take my mind off the fact that the room I work in is, although it is supposed to be a showcase technical facility, used as a corridor, ad hoc meeting room and hot-desking location. The place is always full of strangers and passers-through. All this makes it even harder to concentrate when you are absolutely knackered. It does not help that one person who has been squatting at the empty desk next to mine has the most boring voice in the world. He and his colleague have been there a month and done nothing but take coffee breaks and chat. But there is no point getting too wound up about it. The company have made it perfectly clear that although the building is totally unsuitable for business, energy inefficient, and unpleasant there is no chance of moving because it is very cheap.

But I digress. I am just so looking forward to the prospect of a bit of a sleep-in Saturday morning. I reached the point on Thursday night that I went to bed early (for me) and got to sleep reasonably quickly, but then spoiled it by waking up at 3:30am with the most incredible heartburn, thus wrecking the one decent night I would have had.

Today I broke up the monotony of work by skipping lunch and wandering over to the Royal Festival Hall to see the free entertainment there. Today it was a Senegalese singer and Kora player who has accompanied by a percussionist and double bass player. It was not bad at all. I met up with an ex-colleague from London Underground who shares my tastes in music – up to a point.
