Live 8 – The crowd

July 3rd, 2005 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Perspective is a strange thing. I know there were a lot of people in Hyde Park, its got to be the biggest crowd I have ever been in, but it didn’t seem crowded.

We stayed at the back mostly. Jayne does not like crowds much and I’m probably getting too old to spend 10 hours in the mosh pit, so we stayed towards the back. You could actually see the stage from there, which was difficult if you got about a quarter of the way forward.

Maybe its a shame, because we did not feel the scale of the thing properly. Being a very flat space its hard to see the whole crowd at all and we could only see just how massive it was from the pictures on the big screen. Also, with most of the crowd in front we did not hear a lot of the crowd noise, as it was all directed forwards.

Maybe we missed out on a lot of the atmosphere as a result, but someone has to be at the back don’t they?
