I have been watching Later with Jools Holland on the TV, and amongst all the ‘normal’ musicians there was a bloke called Shlomo who does a human beatbox routine.
I don’t think its something I could listen to a whole album of, in fact I am sure I couldn’t, but in short bursts it is very impressive. Having said that I would rather listen to a whole album of beatbox than Babyshambles.
If you haven’t seen or heard this sort of thing, there are videos floating around the net from the US and Shlomo’s website has some audio downloads, but the man seems to be doing the impossible. Using just a microphone he was singing and providing his own rhythm accompaniment. Even if you don’t like the sound you have to admire the technique.
