Yesterday I had 5 vacancies in my new department. Now I only have 3.
One of the people who left on Monday has asked if she can come back. As she is extremely capable I’m more than happy for her to return. I’ll be interested to know how she managed to find a place to work even worse then ours though!
I also got given a firm joining date for another person. By the time I get back from jury service he will be in place and fully up to speed.
Suddenly everything is looking a lot more possible. There is a good chance I can tempt someone from downstairs into another of the vacancies for a month or two on trial, and if that happens it can happen very quickly. The challenge now is finding suitable people for the last two positions before the holidays, but with no rush for their starting date.
