Big Brother madness

January 6th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

At tonight’s constituency meeting of the Crawley Labour Party there was a welcome appearance by our own Big Brother contestant, Eugene Sully. Its good to see that all the fuss has died down and he can get on with his life again.

Of course his time on the show is now being eclipsed by having George Galloway on Celebrity Big Brother which is so bizarre that I still can’t really believe it. On the other hand he has tried every other excuse for neglecting his constituents – speaking tours, visits to the US, and so on so maybe I should not be surprised. I assume he will still get paid his MP’s salary while he is effectively isolated from the world.

The real problem is that I will be forced to watch the bloody programme again. I don’t like it. I don’t like the way it reminds me of the Stanford Prison Experiment, I don’t like how it dominates every conversation, and now I don’t like how it reminds me of sitting around on jury service waiting to do something. I watched the last one because Eugene was on it and he is a nice bloke who I was interested in seeing do well. Now I just want to see what Gorgeous George gets up to.

Clever buggers these TV people. They got me watching ‘I’m A Celebrity’ against my better judgement by persuading Johnny Rotten to take part, and now they will make me watch Celebrity Big Brother.

UPDATE: no they didn’t! After the initial novelty I didn’t watch any more of this rubbish.
