I’m forever blowing bubbles!

January 23rd, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Life · No Comments · Life

Yes, the bubbles song was echoing through the Skuds homestead this evening after West Ham notched up their first win since November 5th.

It is true that Uriah Rennie made some poor decisions, mostly in our favour, and our defence did just about everything they could to give Fulham a chance in the second half, but I don’t care. It makes up for all those times when everything just went against us, and at the end of the day I think our two goals were so good they should have counted double anyway.

Its a shame it had to be Fulham. I don’t think there is any particular animosity towards Fulham on the part of West Ham – its not like they are Milwall or Tottenham or anything like that.

I find it hard to imagine being neutral in a West Ham game, but I reckon that was a cracking game for a neutral to watch. The play was going end to end, quite a few chances, some good saves, some brilliant goals, spectacular defensive errors, some hard tackles… what more could you want from a game of football?

The end was quite emotional, with it being Tomas Repka’s last game for the club. For a long time we didn’t know what to make of him. When he was good he was very good but he was always suspended for red and yellow cards but lately he has been a lot more consistent and he had a pretty good game tonight and you could see the tears in his eyes as he said his goodbyes to the crowd.

Its a shame that he was eclipsed in the West Ham defence by Fulham’s Boa Morte who managed to block a certain Fulham goal early in the game. Thanks mate!

Now… must dig out one of my West Ham scarves to replace the usual Juventas one and pay a special visit to Crockatt & Powell tomorrow lunchtime…
