What is Cameron playing at?

February 6th, 2006 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · No Comments · Politics

Cameron’s speech today about constitutional matters is quite confusing. (It was more dramatically headlined in The Guardian as “Queen’s powers should be removed, says Cameron”)

Isn’t it supposed to be the job of the Labour party to push for constitutional reform which eliminates (or eradicates) non-accountable power from the monarchy?

The Guardian article also mentions that Cameron got interested in politics through reading one of Tony Benn’s books. It was seeing and reading about Tony Benn at school which got me interested too.

With all these good things Cameron keeps saying, its all the more important to remember the old saying: if something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

By the way, am I the only one who saw the headlines in the papers and websites, saying things like “Cameroon gay witchhunt row” and totally mis-read them at first glance?
