Another dodgy cable box

What is it with Telewest and their distribution cabinets?

I was enjoying a small gloat this morning when I went past the one in Guinness Court and saw that it was still in one piece after I reported it as damaged in January and it got repaired. As far as I know the door had been hanging off for at least a year before that.

Half an hour later and our canvassing took us to another street where this cabinet was unlocked, with the door swinging open. I was making a note of it so I could report it as well, when a passing lady said "You'll be lucky – its been like that for a couple of years!"

I work for a telecoms company and if our engineers find any sort of distribution point, junction box, kiosk or other enclosure damaged, they report it and we send someone out to fix it as soon as we can. We figure that having cable terminations exposed can lead to faults when rain gets in or someone decides to start pulling cables to see what happens.

I can't believe that there have been no faults on or changes to anybody's telephones, cable TV or Internet connections in that block for a couple of years.  It will be interesting to see how long this one takes to get fixed.
