I guess it is a bit strange that an insomniac anorak like myself has refrained from posting anything on his own blog for about 60 hours, during which there have been momentous events personally, locally and nationally?

Is it because, as Richard S suggests, that I have been too busy feeling sorry for myself?

While that is plausible, it could just be because for most of the time when I would otherwise have been able to update this blog I have been without electricity! Our power went on Thursday afternoon and only returned after we had set off to the count. When we came home, there was still power, but some sort of problem with the Internet – I could get mail but most websites were inaccessible. Possibly some sort of DNS problem? At the same time our phone line was playing up. Possibly coincidence, or was it some power-related problem with Telewest’s kit?

Anyway, on Friday Jayne and I popped in to see the Moffatts for a tea and gossip, then into town for a bite to eat and a look around the shops. When we got home I had just got round to tidying up all the spam comments here and the power went again. It finally came back after midnight.

On Saturday we were up early, but straight out to go and see the Sultan’s Elephant up in London. I suppose I could have gone straight onto WordPress when we got home, but Dr. Who was on, and then I had some new CDs to listen to, and when I logged on my first priority was to catch up on everyone else’s news and get all my recent photos processed and uploaded. And then Green Wing was on TV…

Now all that is done, I have a lot of catching up to do, although the benefit of writing yesterday’s news, let alone the day before yesterday’s news is debatable.
