Most supporters of English teams in the premier & championship will have a few of their current players and old boys to keep an eye out for in Germany. West Ham supporters can watch England play and wonder how we would have done if we could have hung onto Joe Cole, Rio, Lampard and Carrick, […]

World cup coincidence
June 18th, 2006 · 4 Comments · Life
So far 5 out of the 8 groups have played four games each with two to go. In all 5 groups the remaining games are between the two top teams and the two bottom teams. Spooky. For the trend to continue Brazil will have to stuff Australia while Croatia beat Japan. Not impossible.

Muse
June 16th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Music
The other day I saw the old video for Time Is Running Out. It reminded me what a great song it was and I found myself wondering what had happened to Muse; they seemed to be everywhere last year and then went very quiet. The thing about Muse is that I have never really got […]

Blog activity

Not a lot of activity here lately, and I’m sure the reason is obvious to everyone. No, not the World Cup – I’ve been busy working on a really fantastic plinth which I intend to display at the Royal Academy. I know I don’t have the talent for sculpture, but I can manage a square […]

Text selection

Like many others, I am gobsmacked by the Tory plans to hold open selections for the mayoral candidacy with anyone allowed to vote by text message. Paulie has a good, succinct post about it.
New Blog
June 15th, 2006 · 2 Comments · Politics
I do not usually bother to plug other blogs, for a very sound practical reason – all the ones I like are already miles more popular than this one and I cannot imagine that everyone has not already heard of them! However, there is a new one just started by Snowflake5 which looks promising. Only […]
Unicycle security
June 14th, 2006 · Comments Off on Unicycle security · Life
We are so used to seeing bicycles chained to lamp posts and railings everywhere that we almost do not notice them any more. But when you see a 3-metre unicycle chained to a lamp post you have to stop and look. I can’t see it catching on as a form of commuter transport though. There […]
Okapi
June 13th, 2006 · Comments Off on Okapi · Life
Until I saw this story about scientists finding proof of Okapis in the wild in the Democratic Republic of Congo I did not realise they were particularly rare. I think this is because my father is interested in animals and one of my party tricks when I was a precocious child was to identify all […]
