Small world

It is a small world, and no mistake.

Last Friday I had hoped to be moving to the new job, but that has to wait until the MOD security clearance is processed so I am still in London for another month. However, it was Jayne's last day in her old job as her employers were folding.

Jut before that she was called by an agency who saw her CV online and asked her if she would be interested in a particular job, which turns out to be with my company.  She went to see them today and got offered the job on the spot, so by the time I get to move she will already be well settled there, albeit in a different part of the group.

This will not be immediately though as she has her own checks to go through. It is a bit frustrating that criminal record checks are not transferable. In the last few years Jayne had to have CRB checks to work as a school teaching assistant, as a home carer, as a school governor and for her last job as a welfare and support officer. Possibly also as an independent custody visitor for the Sussex Police Authority. But they are all job-specific and she has to wait for another check to be done.

I think she is secretly a bit pleased though. She can have a bit of a break before starting. The last few weeks of the old job were quite stressful, spent going way beyong her job description selling off the company assets before the closedown and clearing the building out.
