Elections

March 28th, 2007 · Posted by Skuds in Politics · 2 Comments · Politics

Don’t tell anyone but I have to admit that I really dislike elections, and not just because I usually lose them. I do like knocking on doors and talking to people, thats the best part for me (can’t stand telephone canvassing though), but once a campaign starts and all the bickering kicks in it just turns me off, and I sometimes envy the vast majority who do not feel compelled to spend a lot of their free time writing and delivering leaflets, chasing signatures for nomination papers and poring over opposition literature. It would be nice to sit down in front of Soccer AM on Sky Sports instead of tramping around town.

I don’t think I am cut out to be a political anorak!

As I see it, Skuds, you are not a “party-political anorak”, but you are a “political anorak” – with an interesting shade of red.

“Anoraks” are valuable – they do an important job.

Maybe I shouldn’t admit it but in all the years I’ve been involved with spring elections in Crawley I would much prefer to be out gardening. What with the sunshine and everything bursting into life and those ******* weeds trying to take over it’s a real emotional tugger.

It’s a long 23 years ago since I was able to get the garden as I wanted it by the end of February…….. 🙁
